Living Donor Kidney Transplant

Living donor kidney transplant is done in two medical centers located in the Philippines.  These centers operate in full compliance with the Philippine Ministry of Health and meet all international standards applicable worldwide for transplant centers.

Our major advantage is that we specialize only in legal, living donor kidney transplants.
Living donor kidney transplants are recognized as being of higher quality since they provide the best possible match between donor and patient.
This maximum matching significantly increases the lifespan of the kidney, eases its acceptance and acclimation into the body, reduces from the beginning the dose of anti-rejection medicine, and, therefore, prevents most of the side effects of these medicines.

Our medical centers and operating and treatment rooms are equipped with the most advanced Western equipment in the world.

Each medical center carries out approximately 250 Kidney ,BMT ,Liver and other transplants each year with the success rate for these transplants being extremely high.
The frequency of transplants have given us great expertise and among the highest technological ability in the world.  These skills have significantly shortened the duration of the transplant surgery to approximately three hours at this time.

Within our medical centers, we operate cardiac and liver unit departments as well as other medical departments that are all of the highest quality and provide additional medical support to patients coming for transplants and suffering from heart and other problems. Medical school afiliation, and Surgical rotations assure the future.

The living donor kidney transplant project is sponsored by the government.  The Philippine Ministry of Health operates a medical tourism project.   Under its sponsorship and supervision, legal organizations in our health centers operate, providing each medical center with living kidney donors for Philippine citizens as well as a quota of living Philippine donors for foreign patients.

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, the organization for finding donors, and the medical center, each potential Philippine donor goes through a long series of medical, psychological, and social tests after which an independent board determines the fitness of the donor to donate a kidney.
Once the donor has been found healthy and fit to donate a kidney, the donor's data is entered in a donor database until a patient with the appropriate characteristics and needs a transplant is found.
After the transplant is carried out, the Philippine donor is compensated directly by the Ministry of Health.  In exchange for his/her donation, the donor will receive medical insurance and additional government support for the donor and his/her family.
It is important to note that our all of activities are carried out according to the letter of the law and in strict accordance with all Philippine laws.

The transplants in the medical centers are carried out on a regular basis by the same team of experienced, senior experts as well as by a permanent team of nephrectomy doctors and nurses, a trained crew that has already carried out hundreds of successful transplants.

The Transplant Team makes every effort to ensure that only appropriate patients with highest chance of success will eventually get a transplant.

In order to shorten the acceptance process for transplants, read carefully about the Acceptance Process for Living Donor Kidney Transplant.
